Court orders permanent forfeiture of N7.6bn linked to former petroleum minister, Dieziani Alison-Madueke

The Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos has ordered the permanent forfeiture of N7,646,700,000 linked to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. EFCC claims that the money was stashed in a bank account owned by Diezani. Recall that the court on August 9th ordered the interim forfeiture of the money said to have been illegally kept in Sterling Bank Plc. The order granted by the vacation judge, Justice Chuka Obiozor, followed an ex parte application filed before him by EFCC.

Lagos State begin demolition of over 40 distressed buildings

Today, the Lagos State Government began the demolition of 13 buildings earlier marked as distressed. Most of the buildings located on Lagos Island, are part of the 40 structures to be demolished in the first phase of the exercise across the state. The Lagos State building Control Agency, which is carrying out the exercise, explained that the first phase of the demolition will last for about one month saying enough notice was given to the owners of the structures before the commencement of the demolition.
